¶ … Raise Driving Age From 16 to 18 Of late in the wake of vehicular accidents involving teens, many are of the opinion that the driving age should not be raised from 16 to 18. Driving in a state of drunkenness happens during some occasion with teenagers as well as adults; drag racing is being done nearly every weekend and speed driving is a problem with everybody and not just teenagers. In case driving age was raised, problems will still be there among drivers and their lack of experience.

Increasing the driving age will render the inexperienced drivers older and will not be solving anything. Even though rash driving involving teenagers have recently caused a lot of deaths under tragic conditions, a majority of the teenagers display the maturity and awareness of road safety.

(Do you think the driving age should be raised?) Driving age must not be raised from 16 to 18 as students come to be more involved members of the society; driving shows the independence of a lot of teenagers and permits them to reach sports events as also academic competitions, and cheers them to be more independent and prolific members of the community. The driving age should not be increased as age does not always bring increased maturity and responsibility.

On the other hand, laws relating to driving should be enforced more strictly. However, the state Government should come down heavily on drinking among teenagers, the most usual threat posed on the road. In majority of the cases the accidents were not caused due to the youth age of the driver, but the cause was due to alcohol and drugs, which are substances by which the adults are affected also.

(Do you think the driving age should be raised?) In fact the driving age should remain at 16, since permits given for driving has scanty or no correlation to capacity-even though some elderly people might dislike the suggestion that they must no more drive. The fact of the matter is that just anyone one can meet with an accident and age is not a factor for accidents. And the argument remains that why many should get punished for the wrongdoing of the few.

(Should Georgia raise the driving age?) Although it is a fact that the number of car accidents where the teenagers are involved is considerably greater compared to the numbers involving senior members of the populace that is not even a credible cause for refuting teenagers of 15 and 16-year of age the right to drive. A number of people say that 16-year-olds do not possess the experience it requires them to be in control on the road.

But the question remains how can one become experienced without practice? While a majority of the teenagers of America between the ages of 15 and 16 remain under the vigil of their parents every facet of their life is checked. Although this might be a cause for annoyance in case of a majority of teens it is liable to keep them out of problems. (Face Off: Raising the driving age) Raising the driving age will only cause an increase in the risk of accidents among the older drivers.

It can be argued that although teens will be older and would be more mature at the time when they receive their license they have lack of experience, as they would have been at age of 16. Researches have analyzed the effects of a driving age of 17 in place of 16 and came to the conclusion that it just mounts the number of accidents among 17-year-olds, compared to what they would have been in case these people were given license at the age of 16.

At present the driving stipulations are strict enough and the real issue is lack of experience and not maturity. The sole answer lies in actually driving a car to have a hand on practice. Since a majority of the teenagers are capable enough to get a job when they attain the age of 16, it is necessary on their part to know driving. A lot of these teenagers are working to save money for getting college education and by increasing the driving age their educational future will be severely affected.

(Capitol Focus Issue Brief AB 1877: Raising the Minimum Driving Age) It goes without saying that driving is a vital part of our society. Learning to drive is a basic requirement in case of people who do not have access to public transportation. With teenagers reaching the legal driving age, they bask in the glory of freedom which driving brings. The opportunity of driving needs a responsibility to give care and good judgment. But a lot doubt the whether the 16-year-olds are responsible enough for this opportunity? Of course they are.

Accidents might happen to anybody at any point of time. A lot of parents are of the opinion that driving age should not be raised. They want they their kids learn driving early during their teens and by 16 they should be able to drive so that they can run errands, pick up household groceries and drive themselves to their school. Besides they could also help their younger siblings to their activities.

Their parents argue that when 16-year-olds are able to baby-sit what is the harm for them to allow them to drive. (Why is the Driving Age Increasing?) As is understood by everybody, teens are eager to start driving early and do not want to wait until they are eighteen years of age. But this is what the officials consider must be happening. Presently, a senior in college is required to wait in order to get the privilege to take to driving.

The question remains is that are 18-year-olds more responsible compared to 16-year-olds. Not always. Even though it is a fact that new drivers get penalties for traffic violations, but if they are 16 or 18 years in age they still get the same amount of driving. Hence, will this improve the standards of driving or will it not? Tests demonstrate that in excess of 5,800 have lost their lives in motor vehicle accidents.

Well, it cannot be said that this goes on to prove anything, but was the survey taken of 16-year or 18-year-old youths? It is even said that since teenagers are not permitted to vote prior to the age of 18, so why to give them the responsibility of driving. (Why is the Driving Age Increasing?) However, a solution which the Michigan state has come forward is an idea which teenagers may like. This.
