Dream Job

Numerous research has been conducted that proves the fact that people with higher than middle education area able to achieve much better positions with the companies reflecting greater than average salaries and social packages. Besides salaries, in order to motivate top management to perform their best, the companies pay out them a percentage of the profit achieved by the company in this fiscal year. Also, to ensure the managers do not forego short-term profits for the cost of long-term company financial stability and image within the shareholders, the managers salaries are also tied to the company share prices. Thus, top management positions typically are for the most ambitious personals, which I can consider myself to be one. This position can satisfy both my financial aspirations, together with my personal aspirations. I believe that achieving this professional level, I will be able to get to the top of my personal motivation abilities, which is personal satisfaction, self-actualization, creativity, self-sufficiency, meaning fullness according to Maslow pyramid.

Typically, MBA degree which could be earned within 2 years, is paid off by the salary the graduate is likely to receive, in only 5 years time. After the economic recession in 2001-2002, the typical salaries for MBA graduates and people in the top management have fallen slightly. Nevertheless, with the economic recovery facing the country now and after the Enron scandal revealing the need for highly professional top management, the salaries have picked up again. From the financial perspective, top management positions, especially in multinational companies are the most beneficial. My dream job thus is to become a Chief Executive Officer of a big multinational corporation.

In order for me to achieve this high level of appreciation, I believe that one of the best roots is to start out in a smaller company and achieve high level there. From there, it would be easier to transfer to a management position in a larger corporation, get insight into the business and achieve top management level there. There are several methods for executive employee selection, which I must be cognizant of in order to set them as goals in my root to this dream coming truth. Besides growing own personnel from lower level management, the company also select them with the help of the headhunters that in their turn choose the top management either from the competitive companies, or the management from smaller companies in similar industries. Also, big companies typically try to avoid the information that the top management of the company is to be changed as the investors can perceive this information as a sign of internal management problems to the company.

For this reason, typically there are few advertisements in the relevant magazines or executive employee selection sites announcing this information due to specific methods for their selection. Having searched through the sites of some big companies, obviously, no announcement or selection criteria was found. For this reason, turning to headhunting agencies is a better idea. No matter which root to reach the CEO position I choose, either starting off with a very big company and growing there proving I am the most qualified candidate, or starting in a small company where it is possible to grow faster and than moving at already senior position to another company, the skills for the CEO of the company are still approximately the same.

Due to different management approaches, different companies have variable major skills preferences for the optimal top managers of the company. The main qualification of the person who would be in any management environment most suitable for a CEO position, is to be an ambitious leader, highly positive and decisive in difficult financial, management, environmental and technical company situations. This personal advantage though must be complemented with other personal skills. Thus, the majority of the advertisements for the CEO positions in big companies stress that the potential CEO must be fully aware of human resources to select the right staff to carry out the strategy of the company, marketing and most importantly accounting and finance. Also, the candidate should have a very successful track record. For example, Pinnacle company requested that the candidate should have the experience of having established and operated business with over U.S.$50 ml in sales. This requirement changes with the company and the industry it operates in.

The majority of the announcements in the career opportunity centers called for ambitious and entrepreneurial persons due to rapidly tightening all markets and increasing competition in the global arena. In order to reach a high position at a multinational company, it is necessary to speak a universal language, which English is, and know a lot about traditions and business culture of major potential markets for the company. The top manager must be decisive to enter the new markets, while also be able to reason and consider the potential risks to make the right managerial decision. Top management representatives should not be too risk averse people as the most successful companies are those who have risked and tried to innovate. According to numerous studies, only those companies which have wise management able to change at least each two years one of their success model elements: either the product, time, place, marketing strategy, price will be able to achieve long-term sustainable profitability.
