How can we protect our planet? Five known mass extinction has happened to the earth already, how can scientists stop another one from happening? A mass extinction on Earth happened 25 years ago and that wiped out approximately 90% of life on the earth at that time. This was triggered by a collision with a comet or asteroid. Many scientists believe that Earth could be destroyed if hit by an asteroid. Most scientists have accepted findings that the earth was one time hit by an asteroid or meteor. However, most scientists do not know the exact place that this happened.
Another problem faced by earth is the temperature change.
