Understandability of Controlled Burn: The Gendering of Stress and Burnout in Modern Policing Results The results presented in the article are understandable because the authors have presented the result in a well detailed and formulated manner. The article has clearly indicated a number of factors that are directly associated with law enforcement. The authors have also identified some of the major causes of stress and burnout to police officers. By categorizing the factors according to gender, the authors have shown how different factors have an impact on different individuals. For example, it has been shown that women are more stressed when they hear they have to undergo internal investigations as compared to men. Presenting data in this manner makes it easy for any reader to understand and differentiate how various factors would impact individuals based on gender (LoBiondo-Wood, 2014). There have also been differences noted based on race. African Americans will have different stressors as compared to White Americans. The authors have managed to demonstrate this within the article and this makes it easy to understand the results they have presented.

The authors have shown that they had a good sample to work with for the study and this is positive since the results can be easily quantified. The number of respondents has been categorized based on four grouping namely White male, African American male, White female, and African American female. By using this categorization, the authors have been able to separate the effects of gender and race and point out how the different races and genders are affected by the same stressors. It is worth to note that the results demonstrate that there are clear differences been noted and this has been well presented by the authors. separating based on the four categories has allowed the reader to understand the results and relate well with what has been presented. At the start of the results/findings, the authors have begun by presenting the population and they have gone a step further by breaking down the population numbers based on the four categories that had been identified. This allows the reader to understand the respondents’ population and have a clear picture of how the population was spread. After grouping by the four main categories, the authors have also provided the education levels of the...

Making use of tables has allowed the reader to better comprehend what the authors have established in their study (Labani & Asthana, 2015). Tables make it easy for people to understand the data being presented and this has assisted the reader. After the tables have been presented, the authors go ahead and present explanations on the results. Therefore, one is able to relate to the data. The explanations offered by the authors can be understood by all readers. The findings presented by the authors are also relatable considering that most of what the authors have spoken about is a vital topic, especially within law enforcement. The results of the study have mirrored what other studies carried out to establish the effects of stress within the police force have found. The authors have managed to identify the main stressors and they have gone ahead and focused or tailored the questions in order to identify the impact that these stressors would have on a police officer. All officers were asked the same questions and the results were then separated to factor in the race and gender. Apparently, the results indicate that almost all police officers are highly stressed when they are the subjects of investigation by their department.
The authors have managed to point out the main stressors for the four identified categories and this is nice because one can easily understand what is leading cause of stress for African American female or White women. This separation has been noted to be beneficial because it ensures that there is no generalization of the gender or race. This separation as noted within the article is beneficial in that one can see that there are major differences on what would be cause for stress and burnout for an individual mainly based on their gender. The authors have also presented the separation of gender results in two separate tables for stress and burnout. The gender separation allows one to understand the interplay of stress and burnout on the different genders. The impact of stress and burnout on gender…
