In this paper, we are going to be analyzing the efficacy and cost effectiveness of treating panic disorders under cognitive behavioral therapy. This will be accomplished by providing a purpose of the study, types of analysis, sampling techniques, data collection methods and how the findings will be analyzed. Together, these elements will highlight if this can address these overall objectives.
Efficacy and Cost Effectiveness of Panic Disorders
The research design that will be utilized is the quantitative approach. This is when there is a focus on numerical figures and the impact that it is having on different individuals. These insights will be compared with the underlying trends that were identified from the literature review. This will help in understanding how Internet-based CBT is an effective alternative in treating these individuals and if this can reduce costs. Moreover, it will identify the strengths and weaknesses of utilizing these solutions. Together, these elements will enhance actuaries understanding of the problem and the best approaches for effectively dealing with them. (Pope, 2007)
What is the purpose of the study (exploration, explanation, description, or a combination)?
The purpose of the study is to understand ability of CBT to address panic disorders in a variety of patients. This will be accomplished through using a combination of approaches (i.e. exploration, explanation and description). Exploration will occur through understanding how these challenges are impacting individual perceptions of the disorder and the way mental health professionals are utilizing Internet based approaches for addressing them. When this happens, the background of the findings will be enhanced through using these tools in conjunction with each other. (Pope, 2007)
Explanation will take place by demonstrating how the different conclusions will enhance our understanding of the problem, the way it can reduce costs and the various challenges impacting patients. This will be accomplished by using the literature as a background for comprehending these issues and how they are improving treatment options. It is at this point, when actuaries understanding of the problems and solutions will increase. (Pope, 2007)
At the same time, there will be an emphasis on the way alternative forms of therapy will increase actuaries' ability to deal with critical challenges and adapt to the specific needs of each individual. These findings can be used to compare the results from the quantitative research through contrasting the results of the sample with the larger underlying trends. It is at this point when more detailed conclusions can be drawn about the issues effecting stakeholders and their long-term impact on others. (Pope, 2007)
A description of the study will occur through carefully examining the effects and the costs of panic disorder treatments on a larger demographic of the population. This is when there will be a focus on how Internet-based treatments are addressing the problem, their long-term impacts, the ability to reduce expenses and improve efficacy. It is at this point when the conclusions can be more precise by taking larger focus on the overall scope of the problem and the way these challenges are being dealt with utilizing alternative approaches. (Pope, 2007)
As a result, the purpose of the study is to understand how efficacy and cost effective treatment options can improve the quality of care that patients are receiving for panic disorder phobias. The combination of approaches will improve actuaries' ability to collect, sample and contrast the findings with one another. When this happens, they can provide more specific insights about how it is dealing with these issues and if it is model that can be utilized in the future. (Pope, 2007)
Type of analysis
The type of analysis that will be used is the quantitative approach. This is when a sample will be taken of different individuals who are suffering from the condition and the various kinds of treatment options they are utilizing. These primary objectives will be achieved by surveying mental health professionals throughout the United States. The results will correlate with the challenges impacting patients, the underlying costs and the effectiveness of Internet-based CBT therapy options. (Pope, 2007)
Unit of analysis
The unit analysis will be conducted by dividing mental health professionals into different groups. There will be a particular emphasis on their level of experience in working with this form of therapy, the impact on costs and thoughts about what is happening. When this takes place, actuaries can utilize comparative analysis to determine the way these responses are similar and different with each other. This will allow for a detailed understanding of the effectiveness of these tools inside the United States. (Pope, 2007)
At the same time, it will highlight specific techniques that are being used in contrast with other regions of the world. This will be accomplished by dividing each unit into two different groups. The control group is those individuals who are working in the field and are using Internet-based solutions. While the independent variable, are people who practice in the same discipline. Yet, they have different approaches for treating CBT panic disorders and views about the underlying costs. These results will highlight the frequency of alternative techniques that are being utilized and their long-term impact on patients. (Pope, 2007)
Sampling
The sampling technique that will be used is the random approach. There will be an emphasis on systematic techniques. This is when each person who qualifies will have an equal chance of participating in the survey (based upon creating a list and choosing them at select points). These factors will ensure that there are increased amounts of objectivity by randomly selecting candidates at certain points. (Babbie, 2010)
Measurement
The measurement that will be used is random surveys that are provided to respondents. Inside they will answer questions about their areas of discipline and the impact that Internet-based CBT therapies are having on patients. This is will be based upon prequalifying individuals who are working in the field and have a history of treating panic disorders. (Golafshani, 2003) (Babbie, 2010)
The reliability will be enhanced through randomly selecting individuals who meet the criteria. Then, compiling a list of names and selecting candidates based upon their ranking. This will ensure that they are able to maintain objectivity throughout the project. (Golafshani, 2003) (Babbie, 2010)
To determine validity, a triangulation test will be utilized. This is when the findings of the different responses will be compared with one another. At which point, a comparison will be conducted of the trends that were identified from the research. When this happens, actuaries will decide the frequency Internet based therapies are being utilized inside the U.S. In contrast with other regions of the world. (Golafshani, 2003) (Babbie, 2010)
Data Collection Method
The data collection method that will be used is random surveys that are provided to mental health professionals. Inside there will be a series of questions that will ask them their views about the effectiveness of Internet-based CBT therapy (utilizing a multiple choice format). To further enhance the findings a section will be provided that allows for respondents to share their opinions on these techniques. The combination of these factors will improve everyone's ability to address the central thesis of the study. When this happens, it will be much easier to contrast these results with other trends and support / refute the main hypothesis which is being tested. (Grinnell, 2010) (Babbie, 2010)
