Compare and contrast possible compensation plans for the two positions

The Walt Disney Company is vast, so to make the purposes of this paper more specific, we will just be examining the Walt Disney Theme Park in Florida. The facilities manager is the person who oversees the services, amenities, repairs, cleanliness and other related environmental issues related directly to the park facilities. The security manager is in charge of maintaining the safety and integrity of the park -- keeping it free from vandalism, acts of terrorism, free of alcohol and drugs, thievery and other threats. These are both very demanding jobs that require satisfying compensation plans to make the jobs attractive to potential employees and to help retain hired employees.

The two job positions would have nearly identical base salaries of around $70,000 to $85,000 annually, depending on the current fiscal climate of the Walt Disney Company in its entirety. However, the additional compensation choices for each employee would still vary widely. Both job positions would receive full benefits as well as perks (such as discounts on Walt Disney products, free admission for family and friends to the park, discounts on Walt Disney films, etc.). Thus, the extrinsic rewards for these positions would be more comparable whereas the intrinsic rewards would tend to be more distinct. "Intrinsic rewards are the personal satisfactions one derives from doing the job. These are self-initiated rewards: pride in one's work, a sense of accomplishment, or enjoying being part of a work team. 2 Job enrichment, for instance (see Workplace Issues), can offer employees intrinsic rewards by making work seem more meaningful" (chapter 11). For example, both jobs could have employee of the month programs with special perks, like free lunches, special parking spots, longer break periods and other small luxuries that allow the employee to valued and valuable. Moreover, once the individuals in these positions have at least three years of time with the company, they'll become eligible for more enticing intrinsic benefits, such as decision-making power and the ability to choose specific assignments. While these types of compensation don't have the same allure as financial ones do, they do have the appeal of giving each employee power, more autonomy and a higher degree of ability in enjoying one's job.
