Intelligence vs Smart

It would be wrong to choose between intelligence and smartness because both have their own level of significance. But if I have to say which one is more important, I would say being smart is more important. There is a clear distinction between the two and an intelligent person may not always be smart but a smart person is intelligent in his own way.

The world is full of examples of people who were not good in school and probably never did well in academics but they were simply very smart and knew how to use whatever they knew. They had the capacity of apply what they knew. On the other hand, many bookworms may not be aware of applying the knowledge their brains can store.

Intelligent people have their own positive points. They are usually favorites of teachers since they excel in studies and can store up information and knowledge that they can reproduce on paper. However a smart person is different. He may fail to reproduce on paper, but he certainly knows how to apply what he has learned in the practical world. Secondly he is a learner in the real sense.

Smart person is a consistent, constant and continuous learner. This mean that for his world of learning is not limited to school or text books. For him, the whole world is a learning place. He would pick tips from his friends, from people on the street and from the people he comes across in social gatherings. This way he knows more about the world and knows what is needed to succeed. And we are no stranger to the fact that smart people do very well in the practical world.

In practical world, no one really cares about your GPA. It doesn't matter how much you got in Statistics or Math but they sure do care about application. In businesses around the globe, every single employer would want an employee who is a quick learner but who doesn't simply learn from books. He is a learner in the true sense and learns from observations, experiences, and other stimuli. This is a gift that all smart people possess. Intelligent people may or may not have this kind of learning habit since they are limited to books.

I consider myself smart and intelligent both. And being smart is a gift that I cherish. it's a gift I thank God for because not everyone in my class could be called smart. I generally love to learn. I learn from friend through discussions, I learn from my interactions with seniors, I learn from the internet and I am happy I can do that. Being smart helps you massively in application.
