Lifelong Catholic Who Believes Strongly

Last reviewed: October 31, 2012 ~4 min read

¶ … lifelong Catholic who believes strongly in the Jesuit mission. I will be able, as a soldier of God, to help the University in its mission. I feel that learning is a critical skill in today's world, but that it should always be done with God in mind. To that end, I am applying to help study in the service of God at the University.

I understand and accept that the core mission of the University is to "promote learning in the Jesuit Catholic tradition so that students acquire the knowledge, skills, values and sensitivities they need to succeed as persons, professionals, and architects of a more humane and just world." In the course of my study, I want to build a career for myself that can help me to serve Him. By immersing myself in a program that will give me the tools to succeed, I will be a better man, and a better servant.

I see a Jesuit Catholic education as an essential component of my development. I believe in community, having volunteered in numerous good works growing up. I believe in helping others, including helping them to appreciate the good He has done for us. A Jesuit education is the next step in my becoming a better person, because I will learn not only the functional skills necessary to thrive in this world, but how to use those skills to become a better person.

Leadership is something that I value greatly, and I yearn to be a better leader myself. I see my education as a key stepping stone to becoming the leader and man that I can be. The structure of the Jesuit tradition will help me immensely, because of the multidisciplinary approach to learning. Learning, after all, is not just about facts and figures, but about how to live a better life. That is something I feel strongly about, and that is why I am seeking a Jesuit education.

In turn, I shall add a lot to the University community. I will continue to help wherever I can to help build the world around me, and contribute to making the school a better place for all. I know that a lot will be expected of me, and I am able and willing to rise to the challenge. I will work as hard as I can to be the best student possible, and a valued member of the community. I want to see the community be stronger, and help in its mission of spreading the word of God around the world. I envision working with the University on a mission overseas at some point, as a means of fulfilling my own obligation to Him.

I know the University only wants the most dedicated, hardest-working people in its student body and I can assure you I am just that. I have dedicated my life to making the world a better place and to spreading the word of God in service of His light. I welcome the challenges that will come with helping the University in its mission, and to being a valued member of the community.
