My purpose in pursuing a higher degree of education in the field of Information Systems and Technology is to achieve a level of expertise that will allow me the opportunity to have some level of positive influence in my chosen field of endeavor.
As the current Vice President of Administration for the Management Information Systems Association I have experienced many of the educational aspects of what the future holds regarding a Masters of Science degree in Information Systems and Technology, and through those experiences have developed a passion for learning that surprises even myself. I believe that this chosen path will stand me strong for future employment, personal growth and for acquiring the knowledge I desire.
After completing this course I plan on being hired by a Fortune 500 company as a Chief Information Officer (CIO). Many of the experiences I have enjoyed as a company buyer for a major retail chain store during the last three years bodes well for my future employment if complemented by the educational expertise I will acquire through this course of action. Becoming a CIO will entail many of the attributes that I have acquired as a buyer, including; product research and placement, negotiating pricing, determine market value for new products, developing and maintaining deadline adherence policies, creating and establishing relationships with product managers for testing of new products.
That experience as a company buyer coupled with my chosen field of educational study will assist me in finding and obtaining the type of career I seek.
During the course of study, my contributions to the program will be immeasurable. I have maintained a 3.7 GPA during my undergraduate studies, and much of that success is due in no small part to my willingness to help others.
It has always been my belief that in helping others, the individual helping is growing in knowledge as well. Ergo, I assist others as much as possible by speaking up in the classroom, sharing my experiences and knowledge, and participating as a team player. I am diligent at completing course work, and at assisting others in completing theirs by offering my knowledge and tutelage.
