Ethical Code of Conduct

Every company needs to understand the importance of having an ethical code of conduct in place. For an organization working in import and export, the same stays true and will in fact need to be further enhanced since the organization will be frequently dealing with people in other countries and hence needs to be even more ethical in its practices. Ethical code of conduct needs to follow a simple ethical framework where what is universally unacceptable should also be considered unacceptable for the organization.

Hiring practices

The firm adheres to the policy of equal opportunity for all and hence makes no discrimination on the basis of age, sex, color, race, religion or gender. The company will review each candidate applying for a position and give everyone due consideration and equal chance to qualify with no regard for anything other than experience, eligibility and screening naturally required to protect other employees and integrity of the organization.

Workplace Discipline

The firm takes serious notice of unacceptable and inappropriate behavior at workplace and hence makes it clear to all employees to behave with utmost respect and consideration for others. No sexist remarks, or comments will be tolerated and similarly no access to or mention of pornographic material will ever be allowed or accepted. Anyone found guilty of engaging in inappropriate behavior will be immediately called by further disciplinary committee for further investigation.

Termination of employment:

The company doesn't make any promise as to the length of employment but gives each employee the assurance that they will not be fired without a proper reason or in the unfortunate circumstance of the firm downsizing. Under all conditions, employees will be given fair amount of time to find suitable position elsewhere and company will help with placement as we have a network of other organizations in the industry that might have an opportunity. The company will ever terminate anyone on the basis on age, color, race or gender but performance and company's current situation will be the only reasons.

Diversity:

The firm respects diversity and provides diversity training for better management of growing diverse workforce. The firm is open to diversity and even encourages it because of our frequent communication with people in other countries.

Harassment:

No sexual, emotional or physical harassment would ever be tolerated. The company will take strict notice of harassment made in any manner including personal communication, emails, text messages etc. If an employee comes with the complaint of harassment against another employee, company will take into consideration every evidence presented and will immediately begin investigation.

Family and Personal Issues:

The company provides its employees with all required support for maintenance of better family-work balance. The firm therefore encourages employees to sometimes work from home, to take time off, to utilize their paid vacation days and to discuss their unique situations with HR managers to find better work plan.

Starting operations in a foreign country is never an easy task. Apart from various legal and political obligations that need to be met, the company also needs to take into account ethical issues like stakeholders' interests and cultural views of the foreign country.

For a company importing from or exporting to a foreign country, it is very important to understand the cultural and societal structure of the country in order to stay respectful of their needs and wishes. For example someone dealing with bacon products would never think of operating in countries with dominant Muslim population and similarly a company exporting handmade products must respect the poor population that is responsible for making those products and must therefore not try to lower prices unnecessarily.
