The essay is hence very important to the reader as it gives the answer to the fine question of where the line between a lie and truth stands. It also gives the categories of lies to make it abundantly clear to the reader where the ethical standards are concerning lies.
The article is also very relevant to the current society since it doe not paint a picture of perfect human life or the way that must be lived, buy suggests that it is impossible to live a lie free life and after the divulging of the various ways to lie and varied reasons for the same, it leaves it open to the reader to decide the level of lie that could be ethical.

The lesson drawn from the essay is the fallible nature of man that keeps coming up in as much as we try to avoid it. It also points out that man has control over a limited part of the self particularly when it comes to lies hence there is need to know what cuts across as unethical and strive to avoid it, albeit total avoidance to lies is utterly impossible, though we try.

This standard of ethics is rooted in deontological ethics, where our actions are guided by our sense of right and wrong, and that sense is in turn guided by society's standards. Consider the aspect

It follows him like his shadow, when he thinks to escape. He may indeed stupefy himself with pleasures and distractions,

Deontological theory might criticize Guido's choice if the initial assumptions included the rule prohibiting lying. However, deontological analysis is only as useful as the underlying rules with respect to which it is applied. Therefore, the solution to the deontological issues raised by the issue presented by the movie is simply to reformulate a less restrictive rule that is incapable of being applied to every situation. Instead of proposing the rule

Ethics William J. Bennett assumes an old school, straightforward approach to ethics in The Book of Virtues: A Treasury of Great Moral Stories. The book contains several chapters on different moral or ethical concepts, like self-discipline, responsibility, courage, honesty, loyalty, and faith. Part of what makes Bennett's book unique is that he uses stories to show what the ethical principles mean. The stories in the book are great, because readers are
