Abstract

This essay examines the comprehensive impact of breast cancer on female health, analyzing progression from early-stage diagnosis through advanced metastatic disease. The study explores physical manifestations including breast changes, systemic symptoms, and complications arising when cancer spreads to vital organs. The analysis demonstrates how breast cancer affects multiple body systems and significantly compromises overall female health outcomes.

Breast cancer is the most prevalent cancer form amongst women. Physicians are aware that breast cancer occurs when there is an abnormal growth of some breast cells. Consequently, there is a rapid division of these cells compared to the healthy breast cells causing them to accrue and form a lump or mass. At times, these abnormal cells may metastasize or spread through the breast to the lymph nodes or various body parts (Boughey, 2022).

Breast cancer has significant impacts on females’ health. Akin to other cancers, breast cancer is usually perceptible in four different stages. Notably, Stage 0 is considered the initial phase, and it comprises very minimal obvious symptoms. The most extreme is Stage 4, which shows that cancer has metastasized to different parts of the body. If it spreads to other body parts, like the lungs, bones, muscle areas, liver, and even the brain, the female body experiences symptoms in these areas (Chun and Cherney, 2019).

One of the key effects on the body is breast thickening. The female body facing cancer may perceive a change in the size and color of the breast. Even though the cancer is usually painless, inflammation can cause pain. More so, the nipples can go inward and have discharge. On top of that, the skin around the breast area can end up being exceedingly irritated, dry, and cracked. When the tumors have metastasized to other lymph nodes in the severe stages, the body can experience inflammation under the arms. More so, if cancer spreads out to the liver, it is conceivable to experience extreme bloating in the abdominal area, jaundice, and edema. If it spreads to the lungs, the body experiences shortness of breath, breathing problems, and chronic coughing. Most of all, once cancer spreads to the muscular areas and bones, the body can be limited in moving and face stiffness, in addition to an increment in injury risk (Chun and Cherney, 2019).
