Going Global in a New World Order

Pluriverse vs. Ontology Globalization is having a profound impact on every region. This is because advancements in technology and more liberal policies are influencing the changes that are occurring. The result is that development is transforming numerous societies. According to Mohr (2015), this is having both positive and negative impacts on various regions. The most notable include: it increases the standard of living, decreases unemployment, provides access to new markets and widens income disparities. (Mohr, 2015) To fully understand what is occurring requires looking at the concepts of pluriversism and ontology.

This will be accomplished by carefully examining the world views and tenants. Together, these different elements will illustrate the impact both concepts are having on developing and developed nations. What is the "pluriverse" world view and how does it differ from the "one world" ontology of globalization? The pluriverse world view is concentrating on the non-realities vs. realities. It involves looking at the appearances, opinions, errors and non-visible related factors.

These elements are used to offer a better understanding about how all of them are affecting the attitudes and behaviors of specific demographics of people. Ontology is the study of real and philosophical ideas. It is building off them to understand the visible and invisible influences on a person. In this case, the pluriverse world view is seeking to understand the way something looks, at different beliefs, critical mistakes and at traditional factors (such as: religion and social norms).

From a worldly perspective, these views will vary from one region to the next. This is because there are numerous practices that will impact the way someone sees themselves and others around them. Globalization is creating conflicting views by seeking to impose universal standards in specific areas. This can lead to greater amounts of cultural acceptance or backlashes because of these shifts. (McMichael, 2012) For example, inside many Western nations, there is a focus on the importance of the individual over the group.

This is different with many Eastern countries, as these values are not openly embraced. This is because they have traditional beliefs supporting the interests of larger society vs. A single person. The result is that pluriversism is creating contention with some societies losing their sense of identity. This is from embracing ideals that are supported in Western nations and exported via technology and specific products or services to others. (Smith, 2003) Ontology is concerned with the relationship different people will have with each other, those around them and the natural world.

The basic idea is to maintain balance between these factors to fully understand how they are influence society. For instance, Aristotle is the founder of this philosophy. He believes in maintaining a sense of balance to understand the person, the physical and metaphysical worlds. The basic idea is to apply practices which will produce the best results. This requires using balance to achieve these larger objectives. (McMichael, 2012) In this case, ontology is seeking to gain more insights about the way the visible and invisible will influence society.

The effects are that everyone must sustain a balance between these different factors. This is something that is often overlooked by the pluriverse theory. Instead, it is focusing on: the way something looks, the different beliefs, critical mistakes and traditional factors (such as: religion and social norms). Ontology considers these variables to be important. Yet, it thinks that they overly emphasize specific ones vs. using them in balance with each other.

Like what was stated previously, pluriverse theory is looking a number of paradigms. In this case, their visions of the future are often limited. This is because cultural factors will have an adverse influence on everyone.

(McMichael, 2012) For instance, pluriversism is seeking to create a hybrid society by introducing concepts from many different regions and cultures. The result is that this is changing the way the people see themselves. In countries such as China, these ideas are altering consumer tastes with more people eating fast food, soda, coffee and other beverages. This involves combining American cuisine with local tastes to create a larger following. (Smith, 2003).
