Graduate School

I am applying to the MBA program because I believe that a Master's in Business Administration will afford me the competitive advantage I need to excel in today's business environment. There are millions of people with average skills and average jobs. I am well above average and such I need a degree that highlights my strengths. An MBA would reflect my dedication and my talent to the world, in the same way that I will reflect very well on the program with which I am associated.

To prepare for my MBA education, I am currently completing a Bachelor's of Business Administration in Accounting. My undergraduate education will provide a foundation of knowledge upon which the MBA will build. I feel, however, that to truly excel in this world I will need to be a superior competitor. This requires the advanced, in-depth education that only an MBA can provide.

There are many things that the MBA experience will bring me. It will give me the chance to hone my communications skills, assume a role as a leader of leaders, and develop a strong network that can only enhance my prospects in the business world. From what I have seen, an undergraduate degree is only the beginning. Without a master's degree my upward mobility will be limited. To be first in line for promotion, and to reach the highest positions, I need an MBA.

The program will also help me to follow through on the accounting-oriented education that I have already received. MBA courses will help me to build my quantitative skills. The increased emphasis on the analytical side of business will further enhance my workplace credentials. It is not enough to merely acquire knowledge, one must acquire a means of thinking, viewing and analyzing that when applied to real world situations yields substantial, meaningful insight. This is one of the strengths of the MBA program -- it teaches you not just the basics but how to truly think like a business leader and a person of distinction.

It is my goal that in the workforce, I will be able to move quickly through the managerial ranks. I have the raw talent, but the MBA program will give me finely-tuned skills that will help propel me. I have already demonstrated during the course of my undergraduate career that I have natural leadership ability. I feel that if I were an ordinary individual with ordinary potential, I would not need an MBA. However, as one of the best and brightest, I must be able to readily demonstrate my talents to potential employers and to my bosses when I start to work. The mere title of MBA is a starting point, reflecting the vast array of skills that I will bring to the table.

I feel that furthering my business education will allow me to develop a broad base that will make me useful in many different situations. Executive level talent cannot be one-dimensional. I feel the best managers are able to synthesize a wide range of information and skills, including finance, human resources, IT and management. As such, I feel that an MBA will give me the balance that I need in my educational background.
