¶ … Grant Proposal Criminal Justice The need for criminal justice programs to secure grant money is evident in the current police department that I have begun working for. This essay will relate a specific grant proposal for this Police Department's request for police equipment regarding a new locker room. The current locker room is in disrepair and there are no funds in the budget to address problem. The human services department has been assigned the responsibility to find grant funding for this project.

Problem Description Discuss the importance of locker room and its impact on better performance. The current locker room causes issues with time scheduels. The female locker room is state of the art while the male locker room is broken down. Funding Breakdown A. Describe how funds will be used. B. Budget proposal of how funds. Construction Operations Problems, Issues and Concerns. Legal. Conclusions Goals, Objectives and Tasks The main goal behind this effort is to provide suitable working conditions for the police department.

With the growth of the police department in recent years, many of the facilities have become outdated within the police headquarters building. The need to remodel and rebuild these areas is important, but there is also a lack of funding to accomplish these projects. While many of the funds granted to this department have been designated for more weapons and technological equipment, this part of the environment has been ignored. By remodeling the men's locker room several key goals and objectives are reached.

The most important goal is that the police have place to work that is clean, comfortable and represents high standards. The locker room is a very important place where police can save valuable time and are able to socialize with their fellow workers. The tasks necessary for this effort will include arranging estimates for the reconstruction effort and finding a suitable design that is aligned with the greater police objectives and goals. The need to secure funds is also important.

Other tasks include administrative planning that involves redirecting the locker room activities to another place while the reconstruction effort takes place. It is also essential that the leadership of this police station is thoroughly supportive of this effort and is informed of its progress and its needs.

Opportunities The following are opportunities that may be helpful in this human services effort to secure funds for the new locker room construction project outlined above: Opportunity #1 The first funding opportunity is one that is self-designed and uses the department itself to raise funds for the program. This self-funding approach will require a dedicated and strong effort from all those involved in the police department. The men using the locker room will be largely responsible for raising the funds themselves through various means of fundraising.

This effort is local in nature. Using local business leaders and political leaders for help may be very beneficial for this opportunity. Opportunity #2 There are many federal grant programs available that can be used as a funding opportunity for this task. The Office of Justice Programs offer formula grants. According to their website "formula grants are funding programs that you do not compete for, even though you must submit an application and meet other specified requirements.

They ensure that designated recipients will receive funds, and are usually administered and managed by State Administering Agencies." These types of funding opportunities are simple and require mostly paperwork to complete. Opportunity #3 Another federal funding opportunity comes from the U.S. Department of Justice COPS program. COPS stands for community oriented policing services and has many types.
