Significance and Remedy The gun control issue is a significant problem in the present day in the United States. The United States has a considerably distinctive gun law. The federal legislation ratified asserts that just about any individual in the nation can purchase a gun, as long as they have attained the age limit and they are not a non-citizen, a lawbreaker or a fugitive.

Perez-Pena (2015) outlines that one of the key holes in the federal law in regards to gun control encompasses inadequate listings of criminal cases and also the aspect that small-scale retailers together with several individuals selling firearms at gun shows not undertaking background checks on the purchasers. Moreover, the provisions of the federal law as regards the mentally ill individuals is largely leaky as well. However, several individuals with severe mental problems never obtain such judgments, and moreover those who actually do can easily petition the court to have such adjudications be upturned. And several mass shootings have been undertaken by individuals who were acknowledged by others as being significantly disturbed. The increase in mass shootings are a worrying issue in the American society. Statistics indicate that in 2013, firearms were employed as the weapon found in 68% of all homicides.

In addition, Speiser (2015) outlines that if the prevailing rate is sustained, then 339,000 Americans will de by guns by the outset of the 2020s. To remedy the massive toll of gun violence in the urban areas is to have universal background checks. In addition, having funding for additional local programs has.
