Through situating women in business roles, Goldman Sachs is empowering individuals, but also entire communities of women who are looking into the workforce like never before seen in their particular culture in previous generations. Goldman Sachs takes a middleman approach, by connecting nonprofit organizations with necessary funding funneled through private and corporate donations. Thus, it is a sponsor of programs aimed at providing business education for women worldwide, but does not often create a program on its own. From this perspective, Goldman Sachs is a third-party participant, connecting funding with programs already in action in regions around the world. On the other hand, Vagisil takes a very different route for empowering women around the world and fighting oppression based on gender. The company produces feminine hygiene products, and has a number of programs domestically in the United States that help promote sex and gender education in order to help empower women with education about their bodies and their choices. Vagisil "has provided intimate health solutions to women for over 40 years" around the globe (Half the Sky Movement, 2013). Its work with the Half the Sky Movement extends its ability to work with women in regards to empowering them through educating them on a much more massive scale. Vagisil aims at helping bring empowerment for women on a much more intimate level. Essentially, the organization aims to help foster change on an individual level, with each woman being empowered in terms of making decisions in understanding her own health. From this perspective, the organization is providing realistic and functional tools for women to use within the context of their everyday lives. These are often much different than the more business oriented tools and resources presented by Goldman Sachs in the 10,000 Women...

The company believes that through promoting strong educational practices and programs, women can empower themselves by making stronger choices about their own lives and reproductive health. As such, "from intimate health care to broader issues of respect, security and prosperity, Vagisil is dedicated to taking positive actions toward solving the difficult yet addressable problems that women face around the world" (Half the Sky Movement, 2013). The company is taking a very intimate approach to fostering more widespread change. The more women the company reaches on a personal level, the stronger the message will be overall. Essentially, the company aims to help empower women in all choices that they make, no matter how big or small they may seem within the context of their everyday lives. Working from this ground up perspective, Vagisil helps promote a number of programs in which it is directly involved with in regions around the world. This is a very effective way of promoting real change within a very volatile world that is often resistant to viewing women on more equal terms. It directly makes an impact on the lives of women, despite their socioeconomic class, race, or age. It has the potential to immediately help somebody, as well as laying the foundation for greater understanding of the self that can lead to future empowerment on a stronger foundation with more active participants. Thus, this is the organization that has one of the strongest models for fostering change worldwide. Working from the ground up, this organization provides a powerful model and how to generate massive cultural change through thousands of individual circumstances.

The net effect of these trends on the environment is mixed. According to Kohler and Erdmann (2004), the expanded use of ICT applications will ultimately result in both benefits to the environment, as well as some new problems associated with their use. The extent to which the negative effects are mitigated will ultimately depend on the foresight that is used today to develop long-term energy and waste management policies
