Admission Letter

My entire life, I have strived to be someone who others could rely on and look up to. As a child, I became involved in the Boy Scouts of America. Now, many young men join this group and last a few years before losing interest and choosing another activity. I, however, was determined to achieve the highest rank possible in the organization. In 2002, I achieved my goal and became an Eagle Scout. It was one of the high points in my life because it was a major achievement and I was able to earn it through hard work and diligence.

I apply the same work ethic to all aspects of my life. In everything, I want to work hard and do the best that I can to achieve my goals. I decided early on in life that I would like to work in the field of Criminology. To be successful in this career, a person has to be detail-oriented and willing to work very hard. Sometimes the clues are hard to decipher and attempting to solve the puzzles of crime can be frustrating. So, in order to be successful, a person must have patience and a thirst to accomplish. The first step to achieving this goal is getting my BS, which I hope to earn at the University of Florida.

I had worked in the Law Enforcement filed for a year and a half when a family emergency came up, requiring me to put my own goals on hold. My grandmother became terribly ill and I gave up my time and career dreams in order to take care of her. I regret that I was put in the position where I had to take time off from my career when it was just starting, but do not regret making the choice to take care of her. There are times in our lives where we have to put our loved ones ahead of ourselves. As a member of law enforcement, people must put others ahead of themselves. If this were not part of my character, I should probably look into another line of work.
