Health Policy Values

My Personal Values and Spiritual Beliefs

Values and beliefs are an integral and imperative element in the life of any individual and play a vital role in one's growth and development. All human beings have their own beliefs, values, and outlooks that alter over time. In turn, these elements have a substantial influence on a person's capacity to understand, evaluate, and make decisions. They not only fashion the present moment but also the future. My personal belief is that it is imperative to be respectful and considerate to every individual. I believe this makes it possible to not only have self-respect but also respect others and understand other people's situations. With regard to my spiritual belief, my mantra is that every being on this world has the right to live and is equal in every aspect. These personal and spiritual beliefs have been important in my development and growth over the years.

Using the elements of cost, quality, and social issues to frame your description, differentiate your beliefs and opinions about health care policy. Give examples of relevant ethical principles, supported by your values

Health care is required by every individual and the cost of healthcare can be high. Both proponents and opponents of healthcare reform laws can agree that the prevailing growth in healthcare costs is becoming unsustainable. This also brings into play issues regarding the quality of healthcare. The justification is that precautionary strategies and well-timed care will diminish poor health and decrease costs in the end. However, the apprehension is that propagated coverage will continue to increase the nationwide debt. Medicare, Medicaid and private insurers, will endeavor to control spending by gratifying the quality more willingly than the quantity of health care. My belief is that healthcare facilities should make every effort to deliver quality. Health care reform focusing on increasing level of quality and decreasing costs could transform the healthcare setting of medical care rendered to people in the United States. In particular, consistent benchmarks for brilliance, quality measurements will have a significant influence on the manner in which we restructure our health care system. Leaders in healthcare have to take the lead in coming up with creative means of delivering healthcare. Another aspect to take into consideration is social issues. In the contemporary, another deliberation made in the healthcare sector encompasses elements such as affluence and growth in the economy. A distinguishing area regarding my belief and opinion regarding healthcare encompasses provision of medical care to each individual in the nation. My belief is that every person should be able to access and avail top most care. However, my opinion is that illegal immigrants should not be granted equivalent care. It is imperative for care to be granted to all legal persons. This is because it is fair for all individuals paying taxes to obtain such care not only for themselves but also for generations to come (Barker and Denisco, 2013).

Analyze how factors such as your upbringing, spiritual or religious beliefs/doctrine, personal and professional experiences, and political ideology affect your current perspective on health care policy

A person's spirituality impacts his or her political ideology and perspective on health. This not only has an impact on perceptions on health and wellbeing but also perceptions on political promotion with regard to healthcare reforms. Spirituality influences decision-making in the selection of not only political leaders but also in backing their policies and philosophies. In particular, these philosophies together with my spiritual beliefs affect the imperatives in my day-to-day life. Taking my beliefs and spirituality into account, my political ideology lies in tandem with the healthcare reforms implemented by the Obama administration. This health care reform attempts to provide as much health care to as many people as possible, which goes hand in hand with my beliefs and values. At the same time, my upbringing has created a basis on perceiving things from all aspects. On one hand, I can relate to the benefits that the health care reforms have brought to several individuals. On the other hand, there is a major problem regarding the costs incurred by the state in providing health care to immigrants and the rise in costs of care in the United States. My personal and professional experiences have had a significant impact in instigating my aspiration and yearning to be largely involved in the provision of healthcare. I have also come to believe that by working in tandem we can improve the quality of healthcare and extend the services to more people in the nation (Milstead, 2013).
