1. What are the pros and cons of this approach to learning about healthcare?
Bloom’s Taxonomy revised comprises of the following six dimensions as illustrated below:
There are advantages to Revised Bloom’s Taxonomy as an approach to learning about health care. One of the benefits is that it is purposed to enable the educators to ascertain the logical and knowledgeable level at which the individual learners are capable of working. There is also the advantage that it assists the learners to scrutinize further to ask questions that are exceedingly challenging in addition to forming instructions that are purposed at enhancing critical thinking as they endeavor to reach the three highest levels of analysis, synthesis, and evaluation as the learners get prepared to attain such levels. Bloom’s taxonomy is a significantly potent tool that can be effortlessly applied in the health care profession. Greater cognitive thinking has a tendency to further alluring the comprehension of other associated content like problem-solving, carrying out an evaluation of judgment, in addition to reflection. Furthermore, this approach is beneficial in encouraging and teaching a learner how to carry out their individual decisions not only within a classroom environment but also is beneficial in the promotion of practical health care skills (Verenna et al., 2018).
There are several shortcomings in the approach. To begin with, it instigates the conviction that higher-order thinking can be existent in seclusion with particular content. Secondly, the approach has been employed in the devaluation of basic skills of learning and, in its place, has promoted higher-order thinking. As a result of the de-emphasis on these basic skills, it results in the learners lacking preparation for higher-order thinking (Booker, 2007).

Mayo Clinic employs a hybrid organizational structure, with the structure being a blend and amalgamation of the functional organizational structure together with the geographical and projected organizational structure. This particular structure plays a significant role in the operations of the organization based on the actuality that personnel can share their knowledge and competencies across the various functional divisions, permitting for better and more effective communication, in addition to understanding the role of every function. Furthermore, by working in tandem with the different functions, the personnel can widen their set of skills and knowledge, which also facilitates growth within the organization (Jensen and Heckling, 1995).

Taking into consideration the operational environment of Mayo Clinic, it is perceptible that it is part of a vertically integrated system. This is a strategy that has been employed by the organization in attaining control over its different entities to increase the organization’s power. Vertically and horizontally integrated structures have different advantages and disadvantages. When horizontal integration is successful, it can generate increased revenue, in comparison to companies that perform independent operations. Horizontal integration results in decline in competition, owing to which a monopoly emanates in the market.
Furthermore, this makes it possible for the organizations to diversify their products and services, permitting it to offer a greater amount of product features to its customers (McGrath, 2013). There are several advantages of vertical integration. The structure makes certain that the organization attains greater profits from the organizations it freshly acquired as it is presently capable of retailing products to customers directly. What is more, this structure makes the supply chain of the organization more fluid by making certain that the raw materials and constituents are provided in a well-timed way with the necessary specifications. Also, it guarantees that the production process turns out to be well-organized and eradicates delays in transportation and delivery of products. It also upsurges the efficacy of the distribution and after-sales service of the company. Besides, through vertical integration, organizations can obtain their supply and distribution channels, which declines costs and makes it challenging for new players to enter the market (McGrath, 2013).
One organization can be everything to everybody. However, the likelihood of experiencing consistent success is minimal. Therefore, it is better to specialize on specific medical and health care services. It is not possible to gratify all consumers at all times, and also it is not conceivable to offer all the services that every consumer would want all the time. The organizations must hone in on the competencies that they are best suited to offer their consumers. This implies focusing on offerings where the organizations truly are better as compared to their rivals and concentrating on their competitive advantages and making them the core of the business. This is in line with ACOs who come together voluntarily to provide coordinated services.
Question 4: High Performing Organizations
High performance is a concept that alludes to organizations focused on their goals to increase the bottom-line. It is imperative to note that high-performance organizations outperform and outmatch all other similar organizations, and they outperform expectations taking into consideration their composition (Katzenbach and Smith, 2003). High performing hospitals achieve excellence across several measures of performance and several departments. Different areas are important to determine whether a health organization is high performing. These include alignment amongst senior leaders, leadership evaluation systems, consistent leadership, positive organizational culture, and standardization of best practices (Taylor et al., 2015). Kaiser Permanente Panorama City Medical Center and Sarasota Memorial Health Care System are two high performing health care organizations in the United States. These organizations have instituted positive organizational cultures in addition to putting in place best practices that provide evidence-based and satisfactory care to patients.
Question 5: Quality Reporting
Hospitals should post scorecards that indicate the number of days since a reportable error has taken place. One advantage is that a scorecard does not encompass performance solely, but rather also takes into consideration both the human and financial elements. The second advantage of this is that a scorecard facilitates simple monitoring and supervision of hospital goals and objectives. Furthermore, there is the advantage that a scorecard renders a clear and vivid picture regarding the activities occurring within the hospital.
The incorporation of a scorecard can help a hospital in the improvement of its outcomes by facilitating transparency, thereby lowering health costs incurred and ultimately improving health care outcomes (Zelman, Pink, and Matthias, 2003).
By comparing the three classifications of hospitals, including a rural critical access hospital, an inner-city safety-net facility, and an affluent suburban medical center, there is value as it facilitates enhancing the measurable value, more so in clinical care. On the other hand, buyers can facilitate the evaluation of the best classification to select, which has the best and most ideal source of care.
