Health Care Management:

In light of the circumstances in the current health care system, health care organizations need to continue enhancing their operating performance, particularly in improving patient outcomes and satisfaction. This objective can be achieved through adopting best practices for health care organizations based on several competencies such as establishing the right kind of governance, enhancing coding compliance, focusing on patient-oriented care, and elimination unnecessary differences. An example of a best-practice health care organization is Capella Healthcare, which was recently named among the 40 fastest growing healthcare organizations based on revenue growth.

Capella Healthcare was founded in 2005 and has grown to become a national leader in the development and operation of healthcare organizations. This organization was founded by experienced healthcare professionals with the goal of offering medical, operational, and financial expertise to community healthcare facilities in order to make positive contributions to the local health environment ("About Us," n.d.). The vision of Capella Healthcare is to become the focal point for transforming the quality of life in local communities through focusing first on enhancing the health and well-being of every person. The mission of the health care organization is to make health care better for communities through establishing new standards in patient care excellence.

The organizational structure of Capella Healthcare is composed of executive management, senior leadership team, and corporate leadership team. This leadership team consists of individuals with in-depth knowledge of the health care sector and proven track records in managing highly successful health care facilities of all sizes and kinds of markets. The executive management team is made of the organization's president and chief executive officer, the founder and executive chairman of the board of directors, and executive vice presidents. On the other hand, the senior leadership team consist the senior vice president for hospital operations, senior vice president for human resources, senior vice president -- Chief Information Officer, senior vice president -- hospital operations, and senior vice president, Chief Medical Officer. The corporate leadership team is responsible for serving in other roles of influence, mentoring young leaders, and assisting in the improvement of health care throughout the country.

According to its operating philosophy, the organizational structure of Capella Healthcare is made of the hospital level and corporation level. The hospital level basically implements and executes strategies developed by the corporate leadership team. The corporate leadership team or corporation level works to provide the capital and resources needed for the effective operation of the health care organization. Notably, this is not a top-down approach to leadership since both the hospital and corporation levels are equally involved in helping the organization to achieve its goals and vision. The corporation level makes decisions on what the organization needs to do to drive quality care and provide the highest quality standard patient care (Herman, 2012). In essence, Capella Healthcare does not use a top-down leadership approach but transformational leadership approach.
