Name: Jennie Salazar

Why I selected this individual and/or team and how they will support my success in the MSN program and as a practicing nurse:

Jenny Salazar was my Enrollment Specialist and my first point of contact with Walden University. The first impression they say matters a lot, and this proved true with our encounter. She was helpful throughout the enrollment process. I selected Jenny Salazar as part of my network because I believe she will continue to support me and contribute to the success of my MSN program. She will be able to offer me guidance throughout the program. She is very pleasant and knowledgeable about the university and entire curriculum of the Post Master\\\\\\\'s Certificate in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. This network with Jenny Salazar will help me to clarify my vision for success and will help guide me now and in the future.

Francesca Gold is my progress coach at the university. I selected her because she was of great assistance throughout the enrollment and registration process. She helped me navigate the school’s website and sent emails regarding important deadlines. She sent several helpful links in preparation and to ensure success in my endeavor. This network with Francesca Gold will continue to help me progress and clarify my vision for success and guide me now and in the future. She told me not to hesitate to reach out to her with any questions or concerns.

Njideka Ikeakor is a friend and colleague. I selected her because she is a FNP and a PHMNP as well. She motivated me to pursue my Post Master\\\\\\\'s Certificate in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She is a very talented provider. She shows care and empathy towards her patients. She is also always seeking to advance her professional career by attending seminars and networking events. My plan is to have her as a clinical preceptor, so can continue to help me to clarify my vision for success and guide me now and in the future.

Stanley Okeyemi is a well-respected PHMNP in the Dallas area. He worked at one of the biggest hospitals in the metroplex and has now opened his private practice. My plan is to have him as a preceptor so that he will support my success in the MSN program and as a practicing nurse: I selected him because he defines the standards of excellence and dedication to the health and safety of his clients. He utilizes his knowledge and skills towards helping patients achieve a good quality of life, health, and well-being. He continues to advocate ‘for patients with mental illnesses. He will continue to help me to clarify my vision for success and guide me now and in the future.

Module 2 | Part 2: Strategies to Promote Academic Integrity and Professional Ethics

I have analyzed the relationship between academic integrity and writing, as well as the relationship between professional practices and scholarly ethics. I have also identified strategies I intend to pursue to maintain integrity and ethics of my academic work while a student of the MSN program, as well as my professional work as a nurse throughout my career. The results of these efforts are shared below.

Part 1: Writing Sample: The Connection Between Academic and Professional Integrity

In the space below write a 2- 3-paragraph analysis that includes the following:

· Explanation for the relationship between academic integrity and writing

· Explanation for the relationship between professional practices and scholarly ethics

· Cite at least 2 resources that support your arguments, being sure to use proper APA formatting.

· Use Grammarly and Turnitin to improve the product.

· Explain how Grammarly, Turnitin, and paraphrasing contributes to academic integrity

Academic integrity (AI) can be defined as acting with values of self-responsibility and honor,

in all aspects of learning, teaching, and research. Contract cheating is when the student

outsources their work to an unauthorized party and submits it as their own.  The relationship

between AI and writing is the emphasis placed on writing with integrity. The relationship

becomes compromised when academic misconduct like plagiarism and contract cheating is

committed during a writing assignment (Morris, 2018). Scholarly ethics are integrated early in

the learning stages of any profession and form the foundation of any professional practice.

(Morris, 2018). Nursing is deeply rooted in professional ethics, making it one of the most trusted

professions. Ethical practices in research and evaluation are the foundation of credibility within

the Academy (Yoon et al., 2021). 

 Several tools are provided by the university to assist students in writing exercises.

Grammarly offers writing assistance. Turnitin identifies plagiarism by providing a similarity

check and comparison to other works, Paraphrasing improves the flow of the essay and shows

that the author has a good understanding of the topic being discussed. Ethical practices in

academic writing emphasizes fairness and accuracy. Failure to adequately identify and credit

sources distances the work from the truth and thus deprives the work of its main purpose
