Pro-Healthcare Debate
Health care System
Healthcare can be defined as the process in which ones body kept off of any harm through diagnosis of diseases and establishment of treatment, it also entails the prevetion of diseases and other impairments (mental or physical), in humans. Good healthcare is a fundamental requirement for any society and should be a basic right for the people since healthy people translates into a healthy nation.
Discussion (Why is Health Care a Right?)
Health care is regarded as an important determinant the promotion of general health in a nation or country. Increased health care provision and resources should be offered to everyone regardless of their ability or inability to pay for it because they have a "basic right" for protection from the government and to support their well-being. The health care of any nation can only be taken care of by a fully functional health care system that addresses all the needs of the people since the common good of the people or citizens is served best by serving all.
About one fifth of all Americans lack any form of healthcare insurance and even many more of them are underinsured. This means that a great number of Americans receive very little if not any healthcare at all. Sadly, majority of them are females and the young. Some of them are destitute while others are not and quite a few of the uninsured are actually working families who cannot afford healthcare coverage.
In a great and developed society, such as the United States, it is a pity that healthcare cannot be provide and yet it should be a basic human right, to all of the citizens, equally. The level or quality of healthcare provided should be an inherent right of all the people and not the privileged few. Providing uniform and universal healthcare for all, regardless of the differences in the society that is, the race or stature, can certainly improve an entire civilization. A single payer healthcare system would go a long way towards leveling the playing field for all the shareholders. A single payer system is one in which a single entity or party, is one that covers ones healthcare needs by paying for their medical needs of the people, for example, a health insurance company in some countries or the government in other countries. However, in a country like the United States, only profits dictate the rules in healthcare. So long as healthcare thrives only as a function of profit in any society, a single payer system will never be realized. Insurance companies, lawyers, among others, all are in a competition for money. Figuratively, they consume in excess of thirty three percent (33%) of the GDP, in the U.S. Yet, every day, people are denied adequate healthcare because they cannot afford. U.S. being one of the major industria;ized country in the world, it is the only one that doesn't provide health care for its habitants.
