Helen Robinson. This Summary Will Case Study

Helen's current situation sees her unsatisfied with her husband and her marriage. To complicate things, Helen's parents have recently offered their family money to come move to suburban Chicago and away from the high stress life of New York City. An old teaching acquaintance from her college days has also recently resurfaced in her life and she is considering taking him on as a lover. Helen has also began drinking heavily on the weekends and has discovered her husband has recently contracted the herpes virus.

It appears Helen suffers from extreme depression brought on by her abusive and tumultuous childhood and the problems her father has endured. Helen has very little sense of self-worth and seeks approval in others too much . Her lack of self-identity creates an environment where she may choose risky behaviors in acts of desperate pleas for help. Helen needs counseling to help her manage her emotional attitudes so that she can make wise and prudent decisions for the future of her and her family.
