Because of prevailing social attitudes that devalue feminine aspects of humanity, especially as they appear in men, many men have actively and even sometimes aggressively repressed their feminine side (Aziz, 1990, p. 119). What men who engage in archetypal psychological therapy can therefore gain is a greater sense of wholeness and the loss of feelings of shame about a more expansive and authentic sense of their gender identity.
