The new outpatient surgical center that is being proposed will support the orthopedic service line and support the bariatric service line initiative for volume growth. Recently Mercy has started to gain recognition at both the state and national levels for its bariatric work as well, in particular where this work has contributed to reduction in diabetes rates. It is expected that the center will remain at or near capacity for its useful life, which will be between 20-30 years.
