The marketing mix refers to the actions that would be needed to promote a product and it comprises of four elements. According to PatteRson (2017), the 4P’s of Marketing refers to place, promotion, price, and product. The said P’s happen to be essential when creating an effective marketing mix. Therefore, it would be prudent to note that the 4 P’s would be effective in our health promotion program. This is more so the case given that we will be able to promote health by influencing low-income families.

To start with, it is important that we identify our target. In this case, our target happens to be families from low-income earners. With regard to the product, our program intends to provide products that would help low-income families reduce or eliminate exposures in their households. The products that will be provided to the said population are inclusive of, but they are not limited to; integrated pest management supplies, cleaning kits, doormats, vacuum cleaners, and bedding covers (Kriegler and Higgins, 2002). The said population would not only need the said products, but they also require standard houses that are free from exposures.

With regard to price, the program aims at providing alternatives (i.e. standard houses) that would be affordable to low-income families. For instance, Kriegler and Higgins (2002) suggest that collaborating with other entities that are involved to provide better housing and repair houses for the said population. In addition, the program aims at providing housing subsidy to low income families to enable them access better houses. In terms of promotion, the program intends to provide information on environmental exposures to the said population by creating awareness on healthy homes through education. The said information would be disseminated through websites and educational resources in print (Kriegler and Higgins, 2002). To ensure that the said products and services are accessible to low-income families, public health workers make visits in households whereby they avail the said products and make the relevant repairs. The said workers are also involved in the relocation of low-income families to better houses.
