The structure and purpose of the Knowledge Management Wiki is to provide a breadth of resources and research that will help those practitioners and researchers to stay current on this rapidly evolving area. The site does an excellent job of showing the global nature of knowledge management including its ability to transform organizations and make them knowledge-sharing organizations. It also underscores how critical knowledge is as an asset and how important creating the infrastructure, processes and systems are for ensuring its contribution to line-of-business and strategic plans are over time. In short, the site is a wealth of information on knowledge management, including insights into how best to make use of knowledge throughout business and research cycles across enterprises and academia.
Usability or "Look and Feel"
Designed with a wide breadth of white space and easy navigation, the Wiki entry is easily used for finding information and research of interest. It is also hierarchical in structure yet well-organized with flexibility across categories as well. In total, the look and feel enable much greater use than would just a strong of links for example.
What is confusing about the look and feel however is the light shading the designers chose to use on the links. They are difficult to read at times, in varying light, and lose crispness and readability across different interfaces. Having tested this site on an iPad and then a laptop, the differences are very noticeable. It would be beneficial for the company to design an edition just for iPad users.
Addition to Professional Resources List
Despite the shortcomings of the site, it would be an excellent addition to any professional resources list as it takes a global focus to the challenging task of staying current with the very broad field of knowledge management.
