Health Psychology The author of this report has been asked to review a section of the class text and answer a few questions. One question that will be answered is the differences that exist from a psychological, emotional and physical standpoint when it comes to being in a committed relationship versus dating several people concurrently. It will also be discussed the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle that includes proper exercise, nutrition and good mental health.

Finally, there will be a discussion of the personal lifestyle choices of the author of this report and whether they were good or bad. While it really does take a long time to truly wreck one's body in most situations, this does not mean that one should tempt fate and face the prospect of one's body breaking down or engaging in dysfunction in an untimely manner. Questions Answered As it relates to being in a relationship versus dating around, there are no generlizatoins that are always true.

Indeed, there are always going to be outliers and people that break the proverbial mold. At the same time, trends are what they are and prior studies have proven this over and over. While the general trend in Western countries is towards monogamous couples and while those couples tend to be more satisfied, there has indeed been a trend towards expanding the sexual landscape and changing the relationship paradigm in the United States and other western nations.

As noted ihn the text, "compared with earlier generations, contemporary adults display a wider range of sexual choices and lifestyles, including cohabitation, marriage, extramarital experiences, and orientation toward a heterosexual or homosexual partner." In short, the more tradition trends and patterns are still there but the overall paradigm is starting to change.

When it comes to dating around or being in a committed relationship, the latter is usually the more satisfying and secure way of living but there are many that are eschewing that pattern or that are still searching for the right mate. As for maintaining a healthy lifestyle, the same general verbiage given above is much the same for lifestyles. Indeed, there are people that treat their body in a fairly rough fashion from a nutrition or lifestyle standpoint but they stand up well.

There are others that have inherited tendencies and health problems like mental illness, cancer and so forth. However, it is fair to say that, generally speaking, those that adhere to good nutrition, exercise and so forth will do better than those that do not. A bad diet, more often than not, will lead to things like diabetes, heart disease and other health maladies.

As for the author's personal experiences, the author's advancement in age has made the author realize that while one can sort of get away with bad habits when one is younger, there is eventually a toll taken on the body and the body does not spring back like it used to. As such, the author needs to get on and stay on the right track from a lifestyle standpoint. The textbook notes that the bodies of all of us follow certain patterns. No matter what,.
