Munity Nursing and Human Trafficking

Community nursing and Human trafficking

From the PowerPoint we get the definition of human trafficking which is stated as the exploitation of a person or persons for sex, labor or for body organs. This means that human trafficking is done for different reasons which are stated above (Chernush, 2010). Statistics show that men, women and children are all victims of the different forms of human trafficking. Therefore it means that men, women and children are all vulnerable to these three forms of human trafficking.in the U.S. The average age at which a child can become a victim of sex trafficking is between 12 and 14 years. This means that children at this age are more vulnerable to sex trafficking in the United States. Human trafficking can happen to anyone and even the people we love most. The victims of human trafficking are from all walks of life and no one is safe from this criminal act. However a common trend in all the victims of human trafficking is some form of vulnerability .the victims can be vulnerable due to different things which include being misled and having fear which leads them directly to the perpetrators. Secondly the female population is also more vulnerable to human trafficking as compared to their male counterparts. Third, children are also vulnerable since they are helpless and can fall into the trap of these human traffickers very easily. Some of the potential traffickers include gangs and criminal networks, intimate partners or even family members, fake massage business owners, labor brokers, employers of domestic workers, owners of large corporations and so on. From the PowerPoint we have seen that the perpetrators of human trafficking are people we know and interact with in our daily lives.at the same time we have seen the people who are most vulnerable to human trafficking.

One can use the nursing process to protect and promote the health of these vulnerable populations through various ways. The first step in the nursing process is assessment of these vulnerable populations; a nurse can carry out assessment of physical, mental and financial abuse. The second step involves a diagnosis of the particular form of abuse of problem that this vulnerable population is going through. After the diagnosis follows a planning and implementation step whereby the nurse plans on how they will help the individual deal with the form of abuse they have been diagnosed with (LevySimon, Smyth & Stulberg, 2012).
