High school is an important period in people's lives and while many have the tendency to perform most of their time performing rather tedious activities as they go through high school, others take advantage of the opportunity to enrich their educational experience. Surely, it is important for one to balance having fun with learning as he or she stays in high school, especially considering the demanding character of adolescence in general. My high school experience has been particularly complex and fruitful when considering the information that I managed to accumulate through the years. One of the most important things that I learnt during this period is that it is essential for a person to give back to society just as it is to extract important information from it.

Simply being a high school student was never enough for me and thus I took advantage of every opportunity that I came across to perform activities that were extra-curricular. The fact that I was not particularly proficient in a certain domain previous to going to high school probably reflected positively on me, as I had the chance to take on ideas that I did not know I was talented in before I considered them. Me being open minded and ready to take on activities that I considered interesting was very important during this phase.

Science has always been attractive to me and I jumped at the opportunity to join the science club when I discovered it. My experience with this group has been impressive and it is there that I became acquainted with some of the world's most intriguing ideas. The time that I have spent there played an essential role in my upbringing as a person who is better prepared to deal with a series of situation, regardless or not if they have anything to do with science.

Social justice is probably one of the most important concepts that I have had the chance to work with during my stay in high school. Even with the fact that I previously had a limited understanding of the significance of performing jobs that assist society as a whole, I was unable to have a complex perspective concerning the condition that some individuals are in and the fact that they are in need of urgent help. I have been involved in projects during which I worked directly with underprivileged individuals that I needed to instruct with regard to the attitudes that they need to employ in order to experience positive results as they try to integrate the social order. Throughout my work with underprivileged people and with individuals who were generally in need for assistance I learnt that it is wrong to judge people on account of their appearance or on account of their background. These individuals have come to be in this position because society was unjust to them and because they were provided with fewer chances in comparison to most people in the social order.
