¶ … parents need to do in order to make sure that their children make healthy choices is to educate them with regard to the effects that particular foods can have on their health. Even with the fact that they can also cooperate with schools in order to prevent educational institutes from providing students with unhealthy foods, it is still important for them to be certain that their children have a complex understanding of why it is important for them to eat healthy foods. Information is essential and parents thus need to focus on teaching their children how to filter it in order to benefit from life in general.
While many are inclined to believe that taking on physical activity as an obese person can be especially difficult and even impossible in some cases, the reality is that the concept of physical activity is very complex. People can start off by walking around the block a few times every day and their efforts can culminate in running for several hours, as all they need is determination. "Modest improvements to health can be experienced by most individuals of all ages who engage in a daily program of physical activity that includes moderate intensity walking for 30 minutes most days of the week." (Watson 1)
3. The government can get involved in fighting obesity through installing a series of programs meant to inform the masses with regard to the dangers associated with the malady. In addition to this, the authorities have the power to institute national policies. "For example, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) can work with state partners, particularly in providing technical assistance to evaluate efforts." (In collaboration with the Healthcare Georgia Foundation, Committee on Progress in Preventing Childhood Obesity, Food and Nutrition Board, Institute of Medicine, National Academies 11) Federal strategies can play an essential role in bringing obesity prevention strategies together and in improving the public health communications.
4. The reality is that many healthy foods are more expensive than high-calorie cheap foods and that this makes it difficult for a great deal of people to have problems directing their attention toward strategies they can take on with the purpose to refrain from eating unhealthy foods. Even with this, "a well planned menu that uses simple whole foods instead of already prepared convenience foods can be lower in cost and healthier." (Dunn 11) Thus, the main idea when trying to eat healthy foods is to get as much information as possible, as this can make the difference between having a life-threatening disease and being healthy.
5. Convenience is not necessarily an impediment when considering children suffering as a result of eating fast foods, taking into account that there are a series of other foods that can be as effective as fast foods while keeping children healthy. Factors like time, effort needed, and cost can also be insignificant when considering tutors who are well-informed with regard to healthy foods. One can cook a series of healthy and delicious foods while spending the same time, money, and effort that they spend buying a child fast food.
