business. Because the Ukraine has traditionally been a bridge between the East and the West, Ukrainians are able to offer a unique perspective, combining Eastern and Western ways of thinking. This had led to some significant innovations by Ukrainian scientists and researchers. Perhaps more significant is the contributions that Ukrainians can make as facilitators, because of their experience in dealing with the clashes between Eastern and Western culture.
Of course, the most important role that Ukrainian immigrants may be able to play is in providing intelligence and insight. Because the Ukraine was under Soviet dominance, Ukrainians are able to provide insight into Cold War Russia. This insight is significant given Russia's shift back towards totalitarianism. Ukrainians also suffered through Chernobyl, which had a devastating impact on their nation. If Americans are willing to listen to their insight into these two potential dangers, Americans could be greatly enriched by Ukrainian immigrants.
