Importance of Considering the level of Protection

In current decades, the industrial and process businesses have experienced fundamental changes with bringing in new types of safety protection when it comes to things such as electronics and microprocessor-based type of equipment in every feature of the industry. It is clear that these changes have introduced a new, very difficult class of gear with random failure design and a need for refined troubleshooting skills in regards to safety protection. As a result, when it comes to the importance of considering the level of protection desired it is important to develop management strategies in order to make sure that the required levels of plant uptime, cost and industry risk are met at the lowest likely cost.

When it comes to the importance of considering the level of Protection desired one of the first things that need to be addressed when it comes to the safety factor is knowing what to repair and also what needs to be replaced (Harris, 2010). Some experts believe that this is a critical question in regards to the safety factor because as it will define "spare" and the way failures are usually handled. The things that needs to be repaired depends entirely on the skills that are usually available in the maintenance/engineering department, not to mention the time it takes to repair as opposed to replace and then the cost of the downtime.

Software is also used in our transportation systems in addition to airplanes, trains, subways, ships, and even in family automobiles. Research shows that software is likewise a major constituent of a lot of medical organizations in which safe functioning is dangerous to the safety of patients and operators similar (Harris, 2010). Yet, when the software does not openly control safety-critical hardware, software is able make available to operators and operators with safety-critical information with which they will have to make safety-critical choices (air traffic control or medical information for example organ donor information, blood bank records, and patient medical records). As many have come to depend on more on software-intensive systems, most have come to trust more on those systems running safely.
