Interviewing and Observing Activity: Summary Given the brief period of time our group was allotted, we focused on subjects we had in common, such as our decision to go to college. Conducting an interview is like meeting someone for the first time. It is usually unwise to begin with 'hard hitting' or obscure questions.

The questions we asked were as follows: How did you decide on a college? Why did you choose this one? Was it your first choice? Is it far away from your hometown? What are you studying? Did your major change once you came to college? What is your main reason for attending college? Did your high school prepare you for college? All of us seemed very frank and honest in our responses. I admitted that my college was not my first choice school.

However, over time I have acclimated to the environment and am happy that fate brought me here. I like the flexibility offered by the school and the fact that it offers sports management, my desired career path. I felt very well-prepared to enter a college environment by my high school, which made transitioning from one environment to another much easier. The only detriment to attending this particular school is that I live in London and it is located far away from my home.

The other students admitted that they too had looked at different schools but were relatively happy with their current university setting. The most interesting questions proved to be the ones which focused on the level of preparation students had experienced before enrolling: the other two students felt that high school did not adequately prepare them for the independence and rigor of college classes. They had to learn better time management skills to truly thrive in the college environment.

I agreed that although I enjoyed my high school, college required an additional level of discipline in terms of budgeting my time and forcing me to think more critically.

Asking one another about why we chose our majors and the changes we had underwent in selecting them was also a fruitful source of dialogue: while two of us were very certain about our career path, one interviewee had experienced a great deal of trial and error, first focusing on the sciences, then law, and then finally deciding that he did not have to pick his future profession just yet to feel happy and secure while at college. There were no 'challenging' moments in the interview.

The question which provoked the least dialogue was why we were attending college: all of us agreed it was to get a good job and to achieve some level of financial success. I enjoyed interviewing my colleagues much more than.
