¶ … firms have been outsourcing the manufacturing of numerous products. In the case of So Safe Advanced Hospital Products (SAHCP), the company has been using this to produce an insulin delivery system. That is built in Brazil and Mexico. These practices have created concerns about quality control procedures. To fully understand what is happening requires examining the problem, how SAHCP should respond, if the firm is ISO compliant and internal recommendations for upper management. Together, these elements will highlight the best strategy for the company. (Abuhav, 2012) (Doyle, 2009) What is the problem from the perspective of a business decision and quality function? Please support your explanation with facts from the case.

The problem is that quality control managers are not effectively doing their jobs in monitoring for any kind of manufacturing defects. At the same time, they are not analyzing the design of the insulin pump and possible areas where there could be flaws. Inside the case, these different issues were reported with some of the most common complaints to include:

The tubing is stained

When the system is restarted, it does not flow easily

Sometimes it is extremely difficult to connect the syringe to the pump

...

(Abuhav, 2012) (Doyle, 2009)
Does the fact that this company states ISO compliance and has 'never had a bad product' influence how SAHCP should respond to these issues?

The fact that the firm new had no bad products should not influence their reaction, but it does. This is because executives have become somewhat delusional from these types statements. These views are problematic, as the company will miss critical issues in the manufacturing and design process. As a result, the firm needs to concentrate on delivering a safe, quality and reliable product to consumers. This will require transforming the way it responds to numerous challenges. (Abuhav, 2012) (Doyle, 2009)

Based on the facts of this case, is SAHCP ISO compliant? Please provide specific examples from the case to support your comments.

SAHCP is not ISO compliant. A good example can be seen with the firm's response to the most common complaints. They claimed that the discolored tubing was cosmetic and how the staff must be trained properly prior to / during operation. None of these issues were directly related to something they did. Instead, it was…

Quality Management Improving Service Delivery and Knowledge Acquisition Through Quality Management Creating a solid foundation for continual improvement of a quality assurance program needs to take into account the customer-centric aspects of ISO 9001:2008, balancing them with the greater precision of quality objectives and measurement. As a graduate-level program is by nature longitudinal in scope encompassing many different experiences, the use of quality plan auditing and continual Corrective Action Preventative Action (CAPA) programs

cable failure is likely that the specifications on the cable were insufficient for the application process. It appears that the cable, or the connectors, are failing 2.5 times for each cable that is successful in installation. The manner of usage on the cables is also of concern -- the cable must bend at various complex angels around a control box, and then through various other metal devices. Even though

So, there would be lesser availability of resources to help with environmental stewardship. Not only that, but there is no clear process in order to determine what to do as it pertains to this subject. Although the bulk of the standard allows for efficient communication and understanding with the company/organization, it has little clear instructions or details as it pertains to environmental stewardship, therefore limiting its use. " As it applies specifically to the ISO 9001:2008 which replaced the ISO9002: 1994, the ISO 9001 concerns itself with quality management. In fact it is a quality management system that establishes various requirements ("ISO 9001:2008"). In order to gain certification the organization must: 1. Demonstrate its capacity to consistently offer product that meets customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements ("ISO 9001:2008"). 2. Plan to improve customer satisfaction through the effective application

ISO 9000 and the Small Company The ISO 9000 is a "generic management system standard," which is primarily concerned with quality management: The ISO 9000 family of standards represents an international consensus on good management practices with the aim of ensuring that the organization can time and time again deliver the product or services that meet the client's quality requirements. These good practices have been distilled into a set of standardized requirements
