What is needed to be in the new high school and why?

The proposed high school should cater to the needs of students, academically and otherwise. This is important for a well-rounded development of every student. Firstly, the high school should provide opportunities for students to pursue their personal interests such as knitting or carpentry or just about anything else instead of forcing them to choose from a given set of options. This will help to build their skill and will also give them the confidence needed for higher education. A warm and inviting climate, more interaction with nature and extensive opportunities to learn and explore are vital for a model high school.

How the buildings should be?

The buildings should be attractive and bright for students. Nobody would like to walk into a dull and boring people, especially not teenagers. Also, the buildings should be functional. It should be easy for students to navigate from one room to another easily and its a good idea to group different related rooms together. The classrooms should be airy and bright and sufficiently large to hold a class comfortably. The building should also have lots of open spaces and gardens where students can relax and interact with nature.

Scheduling of classes

The required courses should be kept to a minimum while the optional course options should be diverse. This will give students a chance to pursue a course they like and it will also be a great incentive for them to attend school. The hours of each course should be about half hour in classrooms and half hour to do any related projects or to visit to the library to explore the subject or a field trip that will better help them to understand the concept taught in the classrooms. This helps them to get a hands-on approach to every topic and will help them to better understand why and how it is used. More importantly, it will keep their interest going.

Faculty and staff

The faculty and teachers should be well-versed in their respective subjects and they should be able to make the students learn beyond the text book in a natural way. They should inspire the students to learn without pushing them off the cliff. All the staff including the administrators should be warm, inviting and kind with the students to help them cope with any problems they may have. The attitude and friendliness of the staff is vital to reduce drop-out rates and to help students have a more positive outlook in life.
