¶ … JFK Quote
"A young man who does not have what it takes to perform military service is not likely to have what it takes to make a living." (JFK)
Given the fact that the military today has reached a phase where it largely resembles the civil life, more and more people choose a military career just as they would have chosen one which dealt with the civil life. Opinions in regard to a military life are divisive, especially among those that are not properly informed on the topic. Some believe that life in the military is overstressing, while others consider that those that have decided to serve their country are overpaid.
Considering JFK's quote in regard to the military service, matters are controversial, because if one were to believe that the military life is similar to the civil one, it would only mean that a simple person would go through as much trouble in his or her attempt to succeed in life as would an individual that has performed a military service. Even so, a military service is generally beneficial for those that are taking it up because it serves as a foundation for an individual's later life.
Life in the military is for many outside people (even for some in the military) a different world, one where everything is constant. When hearing about a military life, the general public relates to concepts such as everyone dressing alike and everyday being no different than the one before. However, just as in any major civil company, everyone lives by the general rules set by their leaders. People in the military are diverse, and this transpires through the fact that each man or woman has their assigned role, which is chosen based on their abilities.
I'm actually not aware of the real proportions of the differences between a military life and a civil one. Military people are restricted from the freedom that comes along with civil life, but they live according to military standards because they choose to, and not because they are pressured by someone.
The military service is responsible for creating order in people's lives, and, concomitantly, it serves as an educational institute. In order to make it through, individuals have to live by a set or rules which may seem to be exaggerated at certain points, but the truth is that they have been cleverly thought over, so that they would only assist one in their process of becoming a soldier, as they had not been simply created with the intention of irritating and misguiding the people that undergo military service.
There have been certain isolate cases when people felt that they could no longer integrate society consequent to having served an impressive number of years in the military. However, it all comes to one's personality when concerning his or her abilities to socialize in every environment, regardless of their background.
During the military service, it gradually becomes apparent that even though the things that you learn mainly refer to the military life, they can also be adapted so that they can be of assistance in the civil one. Consequent to the military service, one is basically prepared to achieve in basically any domain. One can actually claim that the military service brings an advantage to someone's future carrier outside the military.
A military person is more able to understand responsibilities and it is one's nature to set goals according to which to act. Critical thinking skills are a strong attribute for one that has gone through the military service, as the respective persons can think and act quickly, in order to make full use of a situation. Whether you choose a civilian or a military career consequent to the military service, you will certainly be one step ahead of your opponents.
In extreme circumstances, a soldier is perfectly responsive and can act for the benefit of his or her cause. The military experience involves being more flexible when looking for solutions, open minded, and ready to familiarize oneself quickly to any surrounding, no matter how much stress is involved in the situation that one may come across.
