7. What kinds of community service and/or volunteer experience have you accomplished?

8. Have you ever worked abroad, in the context of nursing or otherwise?

Open-Ended:

9. What do you feel are the greatest challenges facing the nursing profession today and what are your proposed solutions for these problems?

10. What is your philosophy of nursing with regards to childcare and maternal care, especially in relation to diverse patient populations? How can nurses become more sensitive to the needs of clients whose cultural and linguistic backgrounds are different from their own?

11. How do you intend to inspire your students? Keeping in mind the continued shortages of qualified nurses who teach, what can we do to encourage students to pursue a career in nursing or nursing education?

Faculty Retention Plan

Incentives, financial and otherwise, are crucial to the retention of faculty at the XYZ School of Nursing, BSN program. A faculty retention plan begins with the skillful selection of qualified candidates. We cannot expect to retain faculty that did not belong at the school in the first place. Therefore, we must screen applicants well during the selection process. Not all qualified applicants will be a good fit for our institution, and not all applicants are committed to academia. We must choose applicants who demonstrate commitment and long-term visions for improving nursing education and contributing to their profession from the position of scholasticism and research. Applicants should also be able to forge and maintain ties between our institution and the community organizations it supports including hospitals, clinics, and private health care centers.
