It was especially difficult for John Paul II to adopt an attitude similar to the one put across by Jesus 1900 years before him, taking into account that people in the contemporary society are more vulnerable and exposed to diverse concepts that are likely to turn them into sinners. While the masses thought of these two characters as being extraordinary people, they were not impressed with their public image and focused on performing actions that seemed ordinary from their point-of-view.
