Suds ' n Duds offering the area's only Laundromat delivery service, this new business seeks to reach the developing market demanding a more environmentally safe and less expensive option than traditional Laundromat service . Suds 'N Duds is seeking a loan of $125,000 to purchase equipment and inventory, purchase chemicals and softeners, purchase saturation advertising, maintain sufficient cash reserves and provide adequate working capital to run a Laundromat delivery and pickup service. This sum, together with the $18,500 equity investment of the principals, will be sufficient to finance transition through the beginning phases of the business and support a profitable enterprise.

DESCRIPTION OF Business

Suds 'N Duds will be a delivering fresh clean clothes to northeastern Maine. Suds 'N Duds plans on offering two different types of services. Delivery to the various households will occur once a week at which time any dirty laundry will be picked up and returned to the laundry mat to be cleaned. A premium service will also be offered for those customers who wish to have the same day service returned to them. Deliveries will be made Monday through Saturday, official holidays excluded.

THE MARKET

Our goal is to provide laundry service that is less expensive and more environmentally friendly than the currently used laundry service. This market has a total population of 113,200 households with the average family having six children. Currently 80% of these use other services which are expensive and not environmentally friendly. Customers will be attracted by A local radio advertising campaign

THE COMPETITION

Currently there are no known laundry mat services in northeastern Maine and the surrounding areas who provide this type of service.

LOCATION

Suds 'N Duds will operate from Laundry Inc. located at 254 Main St. The rent for the laundry mat is $650 per month, with total square footage of 2,250 feet. The laundry service will occupy approximately 700 square feet, thus contributing to 1/3 of the rent or $115. The water district covering this area is district 9 and has one of the lowest water rates in the region. There will be no charge for sewage as the building owner furnishes the system. Maine Electric Cooperative furnishes the electric. The facility is approximately 1/4 a mile from an easy access to the Interstate.
