leadership should be reflected upon as something more than just a technique or skill.

This paper delves into the essence of leadership and the plausible effects that an exceptional leadership can have on an organization as it maximizes the yield and escalates the growth by promoting an atmosphere that inculcates healthy discussions and comprehension of different perspectives held by the people involved.

Leadership is not just identifying a vision or aligning a workforce with that vision but also the mettle to stay steadfast in face of all trials and tribulations. A leader in the truest sense of the word is he who is able to rise up to the expectations of people in the hour of need and mobilize the resources within his command in a way that would lead those following him towards their proper destination. A leader should have the ability to look at the bigger picture and make decisions accordingly. In a business setup a leader is supposed to not only have the right sense of the ever-changing trends of the market, and what is profitable for his company but also the chain of reactions such changes set within the company. This would help him match his employees' efforts with the current market demands thus ensuring triumphal success.

A leader at times has to make many changes so that his organization can fare well and to bring about each such change is a challenge in itself. It is of absolute importance that he fathoms the significance of each such adaptive challenge and deal with it accordingly. Once when the challenge has been identified, the leader's next task is to cause enough distress so that the other people in his company too can feel the need for change. "The three fundamental tasks for a leader to regulate distress are:

Create a "holding environment" by regulating new initiatives, introducing progress at the right pace.

Set direction by framing the key questions, protecting by managing the rate of change, orienting by defining realities and key values, and instilling conflict as a means to creativity.

The leader must be emotionally capable to withstand uncertainty, frustration and anxiety in order to communicate confidence."(Ronald A Heifetz and Donald L. Laurie) successful leadership is one under which not only the economy flourishes but the inter-relationships of workers are improved and their potential is fully utilized and rewarded.

Each leader has his own individual style to bring about the progress and prosperity of those working under him. It is however absolutely essential to understand that even in the corporate world today to lead is not to control but to provide support to the people so that they can solve their own problems. This kind of teamwork helps in instilling self-confidence and promoting collective gain instead of individual gains.
