The topic that we will be researching is the power of attorney that is granted in various legal proceedings. The reason why this was chosen is because; this tool is often utilized to provide a person with authorization in conducting a host of transactions. The most notable include: conducting audits, end of life situations, purchasing securities or having access to a bank account / safe deposit box. However, depending upon the way that they are applied there are two different provisions that are relevant to include: durable and traditional. A durable power of attorney is when someone has the authorization to make decisions for you based upon circumstances where you become incapacitated. While a traditional power of attorney, is when someone has authorization to make decisions for a particular individual when they are alive. This is important, because understanding the various distinctions will help someone to comprehend how and when these legal tools can be utilized. ("Durable Power of Attorney," 2011)
