Transforming an organization can be one of the most difficult propositions any leader can face -- also, one with the most opportunity to make a real difference. Ali Curtis was faced with a set of tough conditions when he first moved into the Red Bulls office. After the previous leader left the organization, Henry, there was a large gap in the organization to fill -- both tactically and technically. When Curtis was announced to fill the position, he was meet with outrage from the loyal fan base and members of the organization. For any leader, this position can seem overwhelming and disheartening. In some of the meetings, disgruntled fans even shouted obscenities at him while he was trying to conduct a meeting.
Coaches are often faced with difficult situations. The situation Curtis faced represents one of the more extreme examples of this fact. It is similar to the situation that the Army Crew team faced with the selection of team members on their first and second tier rowing teams. These cases deal with team identities. Sometimes the organizational or peripheral identities can create a situation in which the sum of the parts is greater than the whole....
The second tier boat was actually able to outperform the first tier team through their ability to work together as a team. There must be a balance between conveying your own identity and being able to appraise the abilities of others and work with these individuals towards collective goals.

Understand the different types of power that an individual can have within an organization is also a valuable insight. I think we naturally tend to think of power as "expert" power -- those who know what's really going on. However, this isn't always the case and some situations require that you appeal to…

At a score of 3, which indicates that the company's senior management sees their performance as neutral on this specific question, indicating the consultancy has processes in place for routinely measuring customer service. Yet from the responses to earlier questions it is clear that there is a lack of commitment and a lack of urgency to using these routine or regular measures to quantify their

It was especially effective when evaluated for the specific demographic segmentation the organization was targeting. Young adult males were particularly inclined to watch the commercial, thanks to the buxom, bikini-clad beauty as the star. In addition, young adult females were more likely to relate to the star of commercial, more so than if they had cast a middle-aged housewife. Although these demographics were more likely to watch the commercial,
Sociology Discussion Responses Response to Post #1 I agree entirely with your explanation of the way that the two leadership approaches you discussed operate. However, I am not so sure that I would necessarily consider situational leadership and transformational leadership to be mutually exclusive or limiting. Instead of choosing between one and the other, I might consider them both as contributing simultaneously to effective leadership within social service organizations. In my opinion
