MBA petition overview and process

Education is a crucial component of success. Both personal and professional development is a critical aspect of becoming not only a better businessman, but also, a better person. As such, an MBA is a necessary step in my personal development process. My extensive background has created a strong platform by which to continue this development. Within the document below, I will aim to address my extensive professional background, why it is applicable to an MBA degree, and why these skills will not require a GRE/GMAT assessment.

My previous experience in a management capacity has provided skills that are well suited for graduate study. From my previous experiences in the social service, management, and customer service fields, I am well prepared to handle the fast paced course load of an MBA program. Apart from my solid undergraduate performance, I have acquired practical experience through my various internships and work experience. I believe an MBA degree is the next step for me to take on my journey to becoming a successful business man. My work experience has provided me with the necessary knowledge to be successful within the program overall.

My most recent experience has been in the capacity of a Senior Project Manager. In this capacity, managed and oversaw environmental recycling projects from inception to completion. This required a high degree of financial acumen and interpersonal skills. I lead teams of 10 to 30 individuals achieve both corporate and departmental goals. I also used my extensive knowledge of finance and accounting to create budgets, hire temporary sub-contractors, and implement cost management policies to insured the profitability of the project. With the cost management and control mechanisms that I implemented, the department stayed within budget, while also achieving the project objective. My interpersonal skills allowed me to properly resolve customer issues in a timely fashion, and coach my team on proper customer service techniques.

Prior to my Senior Project Manager position, I was also a Field Service Manager. In this capacity I managed field service representatives. These field service representatives help set up new account while also performing customer service duties for new and perspective clients. My main function in this capacity was to train development and coach all of my direct reports to become more proficient at their jobs. This task was very broad and required multiple skills and time-management ability to be success. For example, as a manager, I needed to teach my direct reports how to properly address any issues or concerns with client in a timely manner. I also trained my direct reports on product knowledge and customer service skills. I also conducted report analysis on client volumes and trends to help facilitate corporate growth.
