Central Asia Extremism Government Unfortunately, there is no research question in this paper. The author does not ask a single question which forms the proverbial puzzle which the research is attempting to solve. However, it is clear what the research is going to be about, and why the author is attempting to conduct this research. Still, it never hurts a study design to have a formal research question which is readily identifiable by those who review the document.

The theoretical debate and historical context of this research design is by far the strength of the overall paper. The author spends copious time explaining the context of the research. He or she details the current political situations in Central Asia, and the surging need to counteract extremism. Moreover, this information is posited within the historical context of the fall of the Soviet Union. The author has reviewed some salient pieces of literature and utilized terms defined there as the launching point for his or her research.

The author certainly provides the conceptualization for his research in an adequate, if not above adequate fashion. The key concepts that are defined are extremism, the forms they take, the ways in which governments in Central Asia respond to them, and points...

The author conceptualizes these topics as though they were taking place as the reader reads, which is helpful. Literature from journals and other scholarly documents support these concepts.
Because there is no specific research question, it is not easy to identify variables, yet alone codify them according to dependent and independent variables. However, there is a hypothesis: that extremism will remain a challenge for Central Asia for years to come. What the author does provide is a glimpse at the implications of the findings of the study. This sort of speculation is the closest thing to an alternative hypothesis.

There is no mention of case selection, data collection, or data in this paper. The omission of these crucial facets of research is one of the most glaring facets of this paper. The paper is proposing analyze the respective policies of the various nation states within Central Asia discussed at the outset of this document. However, the author does not detail the specifics of how such an assessment will be made. The research design hinges on these details.
