Law enforcement management is a very important department that affects the staff in the department as well as the entire community that is served by the staff. There are some qualities of law enforcement management that would optimize the performance of the staff. This paper will look at some of these qualities and how they are important so as to have an effective police department. One of these qualities is communication skills; am sure we have heard of the saying that the best way of wining a fight is avoiding the fight. This implies that the law enforcement management has a lot of belief in the members of the staff and trusts their judgment in the course of duty (Gonzalez, 2007). This will give the staff motivation in that they know the management believes in them hence they will perform to the best of their abilities so that they can live up to the expectations and confidence the management has on them. In the case where the management does not believe in the abilities of the staff then the members of the staff will always be on the look out since they know that management does not believe in them. Therefore they will not work effectively since they will have the feeling that they are always being watched. This quality is thus very important in optimizing the performance of the staff.
