¶ … multiple tattoos and body piercings isn't a requirement to be served at Cafe V. However, if you don't exude the desired aura of hipster cool, be prepared to wait for ten or fifteen minutes at the door, until the bored waitress finishes her conversation, shows you to a tiny table and finally gives you a menu. The cafe is dark, and only after using the light of our cellphones were we able to read the long descriptions of the organic, vegan foods on the menu. Even then, we weren't quite sure what we were ordering because of the unfamiliar names, and we were too intimidated by the glowering waitress to ask too many questions. Besides, the stereo system was blasting too loud to hear ourselves clearly. While waiting for the food, we tried to speak, but the tables were located so close to one another it was difficult to ignore a nearby couple having a long discussion about how much they hated a certain popular band. The decor, as seen by the flickering votive candles on the tables, made us feel as if we were in a vegan church, because of the many posters with slogans like: "Go Vegan" on the walls.
Description 2
Looking for organic all-natural vegan food that tastes good? Cafe V makes eating your vegetables seem cool. When we walked into the Cafe, we felt like we were entering a 'scene,' not a health food store. The small, delicate tables suggest a French cafe; the dark and mysterious ambiance makes diners feel as if they have been transported back in time to the age of the Beat poets. Instead of harsh lighting, candles bathe the diners in golden light on every table. The menu is incredibly detailed in its descriptions of how all of the food served is organic, locally-sourced, and free of GMOs, chemicals, and preservatives. There are also gluten-free options. The passion of the owner for creating cruelty-free cuisine is manifested on the walls of the Cafe, which is decorated with posters celebrating animal rights.
