Niagara Falls When most people hear the name Niagara Falls, they often think about the waterfalls which are between the United States and Canada, but it is actually the famous falls as well as the community that surrounds them. Niagara Falls, in upstate New York, is the location of three massive waterfalls which are a national landmark. In fact, it was the first place in the United States to be declared a national landmark. It is falsely believed that Niagara Falls is a single large waterfall, but it is actually made up of three waterfalls: the American Falls, the Bridal Veil Falls, and the Horseshoe Falls. Since its discovery Niagara Falls has been a tourist attraction and a source of fascination and interest for generations of people who come from all over the world to see them.

The most famous part of this area is Niagara Falls and the waterfalls themselves are very impressive. It is said that if you count the water flow of all three falls, Niagara Falls has the highest flow of water of all the waterfalls...

More water goes over the falls at Niagara than any other waterfall on the planet. Because of the strength of the water, Niagara Falls is an incredible source of hydro-electric power. Scientists have been able to harness the power of the water to create electricity. There are many sites a person can visit in Niagara Falls, including the huge hydroelectric plant. Amazingly, in the middle of the falls there is an island which is known as Goat Island. This can be visited by tourists but only on clear days because the pull of the water is too strong on stormy days for the people to be transported to Goat Island without endangering them. On Goat Island, visitors can see a statue of scientist Nikola Tesla who helped discover hydroelectricity.
Historically, Niagara Falls has been a tourist attraction for generations. It is said that more than thirty million people visit Niagara Falls each and every year. In olden times, people would foolishly climb into barrels and go over the edge of the falls.…
