A List of Non-Profit Organizations
The non-profit organizations listed herein include: All Stars Project, Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City, CapraCare, Community League of the Heights, Financial Services Volunteer Corps, International Coalition to End Torture, Jewish Foundation for the Righteous, Nourishing NYC, Peer Health Exchange, and Shark Angels. All organizations selected are located in New York City.
1. All Stars Project, Inc.
In essence, this particular non-profit organization seeks to promote human development via the utilization of artistic prowess (Non Profit List – NPL, 2019). It has its stated mission as the transformation of “the lives of youth and poor communities using the developmental power of performance, in partnership with caring adults” (All Stars, 2019). In addition to developing and promoting artistic talent, the organization also provides leadership skills to youths participating in its programs.
It is important to note that since inception, All Stars has managed to transform numerous lives through its extensive network of donors, partners as well as volunteers. The non-profit has been in existence for over three decades. According to the organization, it reaches out to at least 53,000 youths annually in its drive to advance assistance to inner-city youths (All Stars, 2019).
2. Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City (BBBS)
Founded in 1904, this organization concerns itself with the advancement of the relevant assistance to kids so as to further enhance their ability to fully exploit their capabilities. This it does via the provision of one-to-one mentorship opportunities between children and mentors whose impact on the youth is not only measurable, but also demonstrated. According to the organization, its “mission has been to give all children in New York City who face adversity an opportunity to experience a strong, enduring professionally supported one-to-one mentoring relationship with adults that will help change their lives for the better” (BBBS, 2019).
Some of the programs BBBS runs are inclusive of a teenage/young mothers support program, the FDNY partnership program, the 9/11 support initiative, etc. The organization also runs its original mentorship program alongside the undertakings listed above. In seeking to fulfill its mandate, BBBS partners with various stakeholders including, but not limited to, the immediate community, volunteers, and families (BBBS, 2019).
3. CapraCare, Inc.
